How do we do it?

As a small, but perfectly formed, niche recruitment firm we are able to go about things in a very different way to our competition to balance the needs of our candidates and clients…

Unrivalled experience of our leadership team

Our team is small, senior, hands-on and strikes a unique balance of 40 years in-depth recruitment consulting experience with over 25 years working, advising and building teams in the UK corporate governance market.

A truly unique candidate experience

Our candidates tell us that the support we provide is consistently better than anything else they have experienced. A more experienced team, working on fewer opportunities allows us to spend the time matching, advising and preparing candidates.

A different way of working – quality not quantity

We have a different approach and model to traditional agencies. We do not motivate, remunerate or recruit like traditional agencies – we are all about quality over quantity. Lasting client and candidate relationships are our focus.

A commitment to knowing our clients and their priorities

We like to work in partnership with our clients; getting to know their business, teams and future plans – enabling us to better sell the opportunity. Getting close builds the sort of relationship where both parties are honest about how things are working.

Integrity and innovation at the heart of the way we work

We are driven by entrepreneurial spirit and a desire to do what we think is most appropriate, rather than what has been done before. We embrace and uphold the highest standards of personal and professional ethics, honesty and trust.

but don’t just take our word for it…

Managing the Recruitment Process…

You can submit a CV to us via the website, by e-mail, by post or simply pick up the phone for a confidential discussion. On receipt of a CV, these are typically the next steps:

Meeting with us

If we are able to assist with your job search, where geographically possible we will arrange for you to meet with a Director or Senior Consultant face-to-face. If this is impossible a detailed telephone interview will be conducted. At this stage we will discuss your career to date, aspirations for the future and how we can help you achieve them. We also offer tailored career, salary and market advice, specific to your area of expertise.

Next steps

If there are live roles we are currently handling that fit your requirements, we will e-mail you relevant job specs and call you to chat through the roles, teams and organisations. Together we will identify what presents the closest fit in terms of your ideal next career move. When you have expressed an interest in having your CV submitted for a specific role (and only when you have given prior consent), we will then make the introduction to the client.

Managing the interview process

If you are successful in being invited for an interview we will arrange a mutually convenient time for both you and the client to meet, and provide you by e-mail with all the relevant preparation information. This includes confirmation of the date, time, address, interviewers, role for which you are being interviewed, a copy of your CV in our standard format, interview tips, company information and some suggestions regarding what you should research in advance of the meeting.

We always do a session to prep a candidate prior to every interview, either in person or over the phone – this is critical in ensuring you are able to go to your interview confident that you have prepared thoroughly and have had the opportunity to ask any questions we can help with in advance. We will speak with you to get feedback after the interview and we provide you with the feedback from the client as soon as it is available. Where appropriate, a 2nd interview will be arranged and once again we will send you supporting information and talk you through the format and preparation required in advance of the interview.

Offer stage

Should you be offered a position, the consultant with whom you are dealing will call you to discuss the salary and package offered to you, and if required will negotiate terms with the client to determine a mutually agreeable package. If the position is accepted we will advise and guide you through the issuing of the contract, the period during which referencing and background checks are carried out, agreeing a start date and handing in your resignation.

Notice period and starting the new role

We remain in contact with both you and the client during the notice period and for the 1st couple of months after you join, to ensure everything is as expected and you are settling in well. The goal is for you to have a smooth transition from one role to the other, in the knowledge that we are at the end of the phone should you need us.
